"Long As I Tin can See the Light" is a song by American stone ring Creedence Clearwater Revival, from the album Cosmo'south Mill. It was released equally the B-side of the single "Lookin' Out My Back Door" in 1970. While released as a B-side, "Long As I Can See the Lite" reached number 57 on the Greenbacks Box singles chart in the The states, number xx in the Britain and number one in Norway. In the UK, "Long Every bit I Can Run into the Light" was placed on the A-side of the single, with "Lookin' Out My Back Door" every bit the B-side. The ii songs were also released as a double-sided single and peaked at number two in the The states.[2] On the recorded version, John Fogerty plays electric pianoforte and a sax solo.[three] "Long As I Tin can See the Low-cal" was included on practically every Creedence Clearwater Revival compilation anthology (notable examples are The Best of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits).[4] While never played live by CCR,[3] the vocal became a concert staple for atomic number 82 singer John Fogerty as a solo artist.[5]

Fogerty biographer Thomas M. Kitts describes the song as depicting a "world-weary figure," perhaps Jeremiah, who "undertakes an uncertain journey." The singer is confident as long every bit he "can encounter the calorie-free." Kitts points out that the word light has 2 meanings in the vocal, a spiritual meaning, such as in "The Lord is my calorie-free" from Psalm 27, and "the secular light of dearest." Kitts describes the music as having a "hymnal, church-like experience."[6]

Fogerty expressed surprise in his coming upwardly with a candle as a metaphor for a beacon guiding the singer habitation. He stated that the vocal is "about the loner in me. Wanting to experience understood, needing those at dwelling house to shine a light so that I can make my way back."[seven]

The drum beat of the song was sampled by Moby on his song "The Sky Is Broken" from his 1999 anthology Play.[viii]

Cash Box compared it to the A-side "Lookin' Out My Back Door" saying that "Long every bit I Tin can See the Calorie-free" "is a slower paced ballad from the blues school. More subtle, but a good bet to overtake the "Lookin'" side."[9]

2013 remake[iii] [edit]

Fogerty recorded a new version of the song with rock band My Morning time Jacket for his 2013 anthology Wrote a Song for Anybody. The remake was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville on May 2, 2012.
